Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Anxiety, hurt, and depression can really impact our lives. We can get into a spiral of negative thoughts or 'what ifs - "what if nobody likes me", "what if I fail". These thoughts can leave us feeling bad about ourselves '1 am a failure, I am not good'.

We then avoid the situation that elicits these negative emotions, which in turn restricts us living a healthy life.

CBT helps to uncover these emotions and identify the link between our thoughts, emotions and behaviors to break this negative cycle, and helps you develop new strategies to replace them with more positive emotional and behavioural outcomes. It is our thoughts that make us feel bad rather than our life circumstances or situations. CBT gives you tools that you can learn and practice after therapy has ended and use throughout your lifetime. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety disorders (such as post traumatic stress disorder and OCD), eating disorders, phobias and depression

Therapy

Every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfil, one’s own potential and achieve the highest level of “human-beingness” we can and has the capacity to do so, given the right conditions. With this approach therapists strive to listen deeply, accept the client for who they are, and walk in the clients shoes to understand them. The therapist is his/her-self, no facades - the therapist is authentic. For people to grow and fulfil their potential it is important that they are valued as themselves. With this therapeutic approach, therapy is client led, while the therapist listens in an empathic, non-judgemental way. This is an approach that is particularly helpful when there is shame, regret or a client is struggling to show self-compassion, which is essential for healing.
